WAHPG News and Membership

Aim of the Group: To stimulate interest within the Shire and elsewhere for the preservation of
historical records and relics including buildings, graves and other sites considered important to the Shire's history.

Policy: To respect The Privacy Act 1988, to support one another in local history collection and preservation, to act as custodians to collect,  secure and preserve documentation already in the public domain, accepting conditions placed by donors on information left in WAHPG custody, to provide safe storage of these items and to ensure that persons who access the information undertake to abide by the policy.  Membership is free to like minded people but prospective Custodians of the documentation need to be nominated and accepted by the existing Custodians.

The WAHPG has permission from the Shire to digitise the historic rate books over 100 years old.  The 1906/7 book has already been imaged and is currently being transcribed.  The image download is extremely large.  If this is an issue for you, download the index then email us for the specific pages you want.

The WAHPG (Lani Munday) has permission to access the cemetery records and Lani is imaging and indexing to headstones and adding additional records.  She has also taken on identifying the unmarked graves as a personal project and we would support her in this by researching the history of the persons buried there.
